Mourning Papers
Mourning Papers is a literary magazine that publishes original writing, art, and photography with special emphasis on acknowledging the wide range of grief that has shaped our lives, challenging narratives we’ve been given, celebrating the places that feel like home, and finding joy despite all the pain that comes with living.
While New Jersey is at the heart of many of the stories shared in Mourning Papers, its themes reach well beyond state lines. Learn more about how this project started.

Dispatches from Delaney Hall focuses primarily on the hunger strikes and protests that occurred from Memorial Day until June (2026), both from firsthand documentation of journalists who witnessed the protests that unfolded and creative works produced by individuals on the ground during the height of the demonstrations.
While it’s impossible to be fully comprehensive in this narrative, our goal with this project was to provide context for the strikes, highlight some eye witness accounts, and provide a snapshot of the reality that many people are enduring in this moment.
