I mentioned this little bonus to paid subscribers a couple weeks back, but am finally getting around to posting it. (I’ve been working between 2 different drafts for this blog that have been taking a lot of my mental bandwidth, and they’re taking a while to birth.)
While I’ve been writing my entire life, I’m still learning how to build consistent routines with it. But I’m taking the time and space to do that thanks to your generous support, and I hope to be able to continue building on my skills so I can figure out how to transfer my thoughts more quickly so you have more to read. :-)
In the meantime, I’d like to share the fruits of my more established routine: a playlist with some of the songs I collected during the previous month. I’ve been keeping this audio diary for nearly 10 years now (!!!), a place where I can capture cool songs I hear on the radio or out with friends or on whatever TV show I’m watching at the time. At the end of the year, I go back and review them to pick what resonated most and create a “Best of” list from there. While other people try to stick to releases from that year, the guidelines for my playlists are more inclusive—as you’ll see from this collection, there’s music spanning decades and genres. The only real requirement is that it’s a song that I discovered or found solace in at some point during that calendar year.
